
About the Researcher
Melanie Ross grew up in Ashburn, Virginia and attended Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia where she earned her bachelors degree in Liberal Studies with a teaching license in PreK-8. After teaching preschool for nearly two years in North Carolina’s public school system, Melanie began pursuing her master’s degree from Virginia Tech. In May 2012, following her move back to Virginia and transition in to the private sector, Melanie earned her Master of Arts in Instructional Technology. Shortly after, Melanie was accepted into Old Dominion University’s Ph.D. Instructional Design and Technology program and began her studies in January 2013. She is concurrently seeking an additional certification in Human Performance Technology (HPT). Her research interests focus on complex learning rooted in behavioral and cognitive psychology as well as improving performance and the effects of instructional and non-instructional interventions on performance outcomes. Melanie anticipates graduating with her Ph.D. in May 2018.
